The British Army have a history of developing some of the fittest, bravest, courageous & heroic men & women in the country. One on top of the UK Armed Forces list are the Parachute Regiment. The Parachute Regiment (also known as the PARAS) have a motto, ‘Utrinque Paratus’ – means ‘Ready for Anything’.

The PARAS have a dedicated charity. This is what they say …

SUPPORT OUR PARAS is a charity which supports The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces through the welfare of veterans, serving soldiers and their families and through the maintenance of its regimental efficiency, ethos, spirit and heritage.

Support our Paras

We provide welfare assistance to veterans, serving soldiers and families to complement or fill the gaps in State provision, as well as supporting vital aspects of the Regiment’s daily life and history. This support includes funding:

  • Mobility equipment and adaptations
  • Mental Health Support
  • Employment and Training
  • Hardship
  • Funerals
  • Household Goods
  • Sporting equipment for wounded and Regimental teams
  • Adventure Training for serving troops
  • Assistance with travel and other costs on compassionate grounds
  • Memorials to those who have served

To help raise funds, SUPPORT OUR PARAS organise the PARAS’10, an annual event that is normally held at army barracks of Colchester & Catterick. The 10 mile TAB challenge, is open to the public. Carrying 35lbs, wearing boots, it’s based on the actual Para selection test (not just a fitness test). As a real Para recruit, if you don’t do it in under 1:50, then you do not pass. You’re out of selection. However, as a PARAS’10 participant, the 1:50 is a target not a requirement.

Here are some photos from Team Chariot’s PARAS’10 in 2018

However, due to Covid, this year the PARAS’10 event is virtual (do it at home). PARAS’10 participants will do their 10 mile TAB at/near home, record it then submit their completed time & distance. All participants will be trusted to carry 35lbs & be wearing boots. TAB stands for ‘Tactical Advance to Battle’.

SUPPORT OUR PARAS are fantastically dedicated to their cause.

Latest: On 8th November 2020, Team Chariot (Pete Biz) completed another PARAS’10, the Virtual event. With 17kg, in 2.4kg safety work boots, 10 miles were completed including 1200 ft of elevation. Didn’t meet the selection cut-off time of 1:50, (missed by 10 minutes) but the objective was met – to raise the profile of SUPPORT OUR PARAS.
